Do I need an appointment, or can I walk in?
Most in-person learner's permit, driver's license, ID, and CDL work needs an appointment booked online. Registration and title work is different: you can still walk in at most service centers, or — new since August 2026 — book an appointment for it the same way.

When you request a service center appointment on Mass.gov, the registry emails you a personal scheduling link. That link is what you paste into RMVFinder. It is unique to you and stops working after a few days.

The registry releases slots in batches and cancellations reappear without warning. A good time can exist for under a minute. Checking manually means you see whatever is left over, not what actually opened.

Yes, if you turn it on. Auto-book uses your own Mass.gov link and takes the first opening that matches the locations, dates, and times you set. You authorize it first and can stop it any time.

No. We are an independent tool, not MassDOT, the Massachusetts RMV, or mass.gov. We use the same public booking flow you do. Appointments and policies always come from the Commonwealth.
